Let's play

This page will host a number of links to games, activities and resources you can choose to play with learners. For each there is an indication of suggested age suitability, but every learner is different so treat this with caution. Try clicking on any of the blue buttons below and let experience be the judge.

Learning Trajectories (Marsico Institute : University of Denver)

This website has a host of explanatory material around education from birth well into school age. In particular there are some games, including on-line activities for the PC that you might like to explore with your child. You need to register with the website but it's free.

Practising arithmetic skills at home

The resources below (see PDF) are not games, but describe activities that can be incorporated into games or used to support development of arithmetic skills. The pack of activities and resources were developed at the request of a South American Government's Education Department to enable children who have not attended school due to the Covid-19 pandemic to engage in useful learning activity.

The activities address additive concepts and processes and a further pack addressing multiplicative concepts may be released in time. The notes are intended for mentors of children which could be parents, older siblings or other relatives and there are links to explanatory videos for each activity (hosted on You Tube).

It is important to note that whilst only one example of the activity is given. The level of difficulty (and so access for learners) can be broad depending on the numbers chosen and any additional questions posed by mentors.
